“As a result of the massive expansion of shale gas exploration, according to Scottish Widows, shale gas and its fugitive emissions now contribute about 20% of the US’s total greenhouse gas output, and this amount is rising. Natural gas has overtaken agriculture as the US’s biggest source of methane.”
As explained in this article a major investor in this industry is having serious issues with it. Not only is the escaping methane detrimental to climate change but is a missed opportunity for use. Now as you know I’m not a fan of fracking but I’m only too aware its here to stay. So we have to make a few things straight:-
Stop Calling Fracking Good for the Environment
Regulate now before its the Wild West of exploration
Insist on Corp Clean up.
Right now the Oil and Gas Industry is subsidized by the tax payers in the tune of Billions of dollars. That needs to end and making them responsible for their mess. Rather than reaping the rewards but not the cost of clean up.
Attacks by President Obama’s campaign against Mitt Romney’s work in private equity have strained the relationship between Democrats and the financial industry.
Simply put Wall St doesn’t support you (Dems) thats why they gave 57% of their donations to the GOP candidates. Thats why they spent and sent 100’s of millions of $ to Washington to stop your every turn. Their Leaders spent their own greedy fortunes on right wing groups and people who just hate on things like personal rights, gays, women, the environment and minorities to mention a few. So why on earth are you worried about upsetting the meager donations they give you. Don’t you get it? They are not our friends!! How many times do I have to keep saying it?
“Melodeeman, a 10-year-old thoroughbred, had earned a rest.
He raced gallantly for six owners. He set a track record at Aqueduct for the fastest five and a half furlongs and earned more than $250,000 in his career. He raced even after a broken leg was put back together with three stainless-steel screws.
But by the evening of Jan. 21, 2010, Melodeeman had hit the bottom of the racing world. As the temperature hovered near freezing at Penn National, he prepared to compete among the lowest quality thoroughbreds.
In a different time, Melodeeman might have skipped this race, or retired altogether. Not now. Not here. Profits from the track’s casino had fattened the purse to $18,000, far more than the $4,000 for which each horse could be purchased, or claimed — precisely the kind of cost disparity that prominent veterinarians had warned against.
Eager to get in on the action, three people filed claims to buy three horses in the race.
No one tried to buy Melodeeman.
According to one exercise rider who saw the horse well before the race, Melodeeman was clearly lame. But Melodeeman raced anyhow that evening.
Turning for home, his front legs buckled, sending his jockey, Angel Quinones, flying. Melodeeman had snapped his right cannon bone and was euthanized at the track, almost four years to the day after he set his Aqueduct record.”

From “Big Purses, Sore Horse, and Death,” from the NY Times.
Ruidoso Downs Race Track in New Mexico has the nation’s highest rate of incidents in which horses broke down or showed signs of injured, according to a NY Times analysis. Above is the body of Teller All Gone. Dumped in a junkyard next to an old toilet at Ruidoso.
Read this series of articles on casino gambling and its effect on horse and jockey safety.
“The New York agency that oversees horse racing in the state on Monday limited the size of the purses offered in races involving cheaper horses. It acknowledged that fattened purses, many of them being offered at racetracks where casinos had been opened in recent years, had created a dangerous incentive to push sore or unfit horses onto the track.”

This move comes in response to this report in the NY Times, “Casino Cash Fuels Use of Injured Horses”.
Theses are just 2 example that clearly set out whats going on in the south on our boarder. The Boarder State politicians are flagrantly whipping up fear in their electorates to give themselves public profiles and get fear mongered votes in the process. This is a sign of things to come the use of justice as a tool to sugar coat racism and to legitimize it in law. This is a slippery slope and will be seen further afield in other States should it succeed. There are already sufficient laws in place that can effectively deal with the situation but just need enforcing. But when are these Boarder States going to realize that this so called illegal flood of people also provides a huge source of cheap labor gives massive financial support to their very ailing economies? The source labor has been used here for decades with mutual benefit and like it or not Mexico is our partner not our foe and the sooner we embrace it and get over ourselves the better our economic future looks. Unless you know of a huge pool of non immigrants who want to wash clothes, deliver pizza, clean pools, bus tables, pick crops, build roads, tend our gardens etc etc etc!!! Exactly!!!

I get so angry when I hear people speak about how Liberal the Supreme Court decisions are!! This court has issued some of the most right wing decisions in recent times! I’ts dominated by right wingers! And this up and coming decision will effectively make racial profiling OK! It will do nothing to deal with illegal immigrants! I boggles my mind how anyone with Hispanic roots and families here could support the GOP!
http://apps.facebook.com/theguardian/world/2012/apr/25/young-men-mexico-us-future
This article sets out the facts that there isn’t a flood of Mexicans crossing our boarders and the up and coming Supreme Court ruling will be tantamount to racism! What is going on at the Boarder States is nothing more that fear mongering politics for vote getting career hungry GOP politicians!
Over the past 10 years and especially seen during the Great Depression (from 2008) working and their productivity in the USA has increased. It is one of the highest in the West and proportionally compared is the least rewarded by it workers. Before the recent down turn Corporations squeezed ever more from their worker with very little rewards (see previous blogs). With onslaught of the a depressed economy workers were ever squeezed for more and more they gave. But with less people and the with fear of being fired! Companied used this period to slim down but realized this fear was keeping staff. Of course this has now led to the new norm, something that has fueled a stock market recovery and profits for Corporations . How ever the power of that recovery still languishes is poor wages, horrible hours and little no health coverage. Isn’t it about time the working American gets it’s recovery and the treat of termination and intimidation is lifted off them? The rich have more than recovered if not hugely benefited for the last few years. The time has come to start paying people a real salary not an indentured servants salary!!! As Thats what were are becoming.
Amid a growing perception that Mitt Romney will be the party’s nominee, the biggest of the Republican “super PACs” is set to begin its first major anti-Obama advertising campaign.
Hold on to your hats, its going to be a very long and nasty bumpy ride.
We are going to see an unprecedented onslaught of total made up lies slung at Obama. Lies are what the GOP do best and forgetting what they once stood for and giving it a negative label. Beware this is going to ugly. And Mitt Romney will just stand back and say its nothing to do with my broke campaign!!! Yes, this time out we are going to see a campaign run by huge corporate money blatantly political. Mitts candidacy will be swallowed up by it and Americans will believe the negative ads. They always do even though they say otherwise!! Now I know the Dem’s will have their PACs too but no one has the cash reserves of Corp America combined!! And thats the difference, CA have wanted the opportunity to take Obama down and the Supreme Court played politics and gave them this opportunity to make it legal!! The looser in this as always is the American People who are blinded by wedge issues like abortion, gay rights and a ridiculous new comer National Debt. Where the GOP peddle political fear Corporate American pays for it. (And in the mean time get their way) The American People all 99% of them have not see a decent pay rise in over 10 years. Most get, if anything at all no more than 3%!! That is in fact getting a pay cut as inflation eats that straight away not to mention cost of living like 15-20%. Then we are made to feel excited and grateful. That is something Mitt Romney will not mention in his speeches about freedom and the American way.
Sounds so very dramatic!! How can this relate to Slavery? A great deal and this article points to the moral reasons very well but does miss the economic issues. During the period of slavery many people and countries like the US became very wealthy. Slavery was the cornerstone to developing the modern world we live and enjoy today. During the abolitionist period there were many calls then by rich people that it would ruin the economies, the futures of people and countries. That was the principal argument for continuing slavery and the fact that for most it was all out of sight helped. Out of sight meant many people had no idea of the damaged and human toll it caused. Just like today with fossil fuels, the same arguments are being used for what they cry as economic disaster. Its the same no one sits around there table at night seeing the huge pollution and destruction being caused by fossil fuels. Even though everything we use and do uses fossil fuels. This includes the future of our planet as a result of Global Climate Change! So with all the talk given by politicians constantly about our children’s future they need to start thinking more about them and less about Big Energy and the kick backs they get. Wilberforce won the argument but it took him a life time, we don’t have a life time. But life will go on and if we don’t change all the money in the world won’t help you run away. Where to rich people? That’s what they usually do, take their wealth and move on, well Climate change is everywhere so this time you’ve got nowhere to go!
